YEAR 1 SEWING
Learn to sew program for ages 8 and up. Six week terms. Six levels to work through, finish one level and get a certificate to move to the next level.
With your workbook, charts progress and will make two projects each term at least to receive a certificate of completion at the end of the term.Term 1: Introduction to sewing - All basic hand sewing stitches covered. Pins and patterns and some lovely projects.
Term 2: Fun sewing, use skills learned and add new ones to complete more soft toys. Learn to sew corners, curves and following shapes. (sewing machine intro)
Term 3: Sew on... casing and drawstrings and create dolls and clothing for your doll.
Term 4: Emblishments - appliques, beads sequins.
Terms 5: Working on a larger piece of fabric, PJ's and bags
Term 6: Cross stitch and chain stitch and a final project.
There are loads of fun things to sew including soft toys, handy bags and purses and your own clothes.

Level 2 - Sewing more
More sewing! Intro to sewing on a machine use more stitches and finishes. Building on skills learned in Level 1.

YEAR 2 SEWING

This year is dedicated to clothing and adding sewing skills. Seamstress' at this level are very confident on a sewing machine and can now plan a project to it's end. This level is for exploring different methods and each level is completed by mastering the skills through project work. Independent work is encouraged.
Term 1. Up-cycling a men's shirt into a halter top and a zipper pouch. We also start patterning a skirt.
Term 2. Finishing up the zipped skirt and making Christmas presents.
Term 3. Using a commercial pattern to make a blouse. Up-cycling a pair of jeans to make a handbag.
Term 4. Color theory for putting fabrics together. Pleats and folds and button holes for a lined tote bag. Adding embellishments in a skirt.
Term 5. More zips, exposed zips in clothing. Fabric flowers. Working to embellish existing clothing. Fabric flowers. We make a brooch, hair band, cuff and belt.
Term 6. Make a kimono dress.
