Hi and welcome to Seams So Easy. Our courses and classes teach kids the wonderful life skills of learning to sew. Learn to sew classes start at age 8 where the students learn the basics of sewing.
For the more competent seamstress we start 'sewing more'. At this level we explore different techniques and start dressmaking in earnest. The students explore upcycling techniques, plan projects and look at different embroidery techniques
The Design and Sew level is for students who have completed the other two levels. Here we explore fabric printing experimenting with block printing, lots of dyeing and various mark making techniques. We make our own fabric and go on to create clothing or home décor projects with this.
For more information about classes please check the Kids and Teens class page here
Here are some of the projects completed by students at various levels in the program:
"Just a few words to say that my Lauren has enjoyed learning to sew from the simple basics and is now progressing to more complicated things. This is an ideal way for children to learn to sew. My daughter is looking forward to the next term when they will be making an item of clothing to wear. I would highly recommend this class to anyone, its a shame there's not more of them."
"Our daughter enjoys making things so enrolling in the needlework class has been a great success with her collection of hand sewn goodies continuing to delight: rag dolls, cushions, draught excluder, room tidy, bag and soon to design and make her own clothes."
With best wishes J. Edmonds
"Emily has loved coming to your classes. She already enjoyed sewing, but has gained so many skills and so much more confidence it's lovely. It's great for the girls to have to opportunity to do something creative with a real purpose that is not academic. It gives them the chance to leave school work behind and do something different. She has made many gifts for members of the family which have all been greatly admired. I know she looks forward to coming every week and is already looking forward to future projects."
Thanks very much. S. Smith
"This was an enjoyable experience and I felt I gained a lot from it. Aliza is a friendly and helpful teacher. I would recommend her teenagers course to anyone interested in textile design."
"I found Aliza to be very approachable and flexible. She taught my daughter all the ins and outs of sewing...the kind of things they often don't have time to teach in school. Nowadays, she doesn't hesitate to customise her own clothes, or moan about sewing on the odd button for me!"
